Trunk Shows at the Gate!
That’s right we said shows, plural. It’s like Mae West said long ago…too much of a good thing is WONDERFUL!
We are very fortunate to have three such wonderful artists featured at The Gate.
Here are the dates:
Saturday, August 28 through Saturday, September 18
Mindy's Needlepoint Factory has fabulous hand painted needlepoint designs that are meticulously painted. The colors are vibrant and the designs whimsical.
Wednesday, September 22 through Thursday, October 14
Kelly Clark Needlepoint has some new old world Christmas Santas that are charming.
We spoke with Kelly and she promised to send her new nativity scene. There will be some beautiful Christmas stockings, mini socks and mittens as well. Kelly is also sending some finished examples with the show that are wonderful.
Saturday, October 16 through Saturday, October 30
Melissa Shirley Designs has been providing a diverse line of needlepoint since 1981. Every piece from her line is beautiful. Included in Melissa’s line are wonderful works by artists John Johannsen, Linda Carter Holman and Mary Lake-Thompson.
Beads and Such!
We have many new and exciting things happening here at The Gate and the latest is BEADS. Trying to find a bead supplier has been a long time coming. Well we have found that vendor! Shelley and our bead vendor have been conspiring to even have us carry crystals and other happy attachments.
Memory Thread
We have a fun new fiber, Memory Thread. This exciting new specialty thread can easily be shaped and formed and then tacked down with floss. Gracie stitched several Melissa Shirley designs using Memory Thread with great results. They are here at the shop for you to see.
Canvases...
They are arriving daily from the National Needlepoint show that we attended. The display boards are full with new and different designs. When we go to show, Judi (our finisher) and Shelley are always along to help us select, so when we purchase there is usually a finished canvas visualized in someone's brain.
Amy Bunger's DVD Series "How'd You Do That?"
We have the entire set (eight in all) of Amy Bunger's DVDs here at The Gate. Amy is a national teacher that truly takes stitching techniques to a new level. Some of the topics covered are Shadow Stitching, Lite Stitching, Darning Patterns, Blackwork, Exposed Canvas (we know this makes some of us cringe!), needleweaving and pattern stitching.
Needlework System 4
The Floor Stand can be attached to the Frame Clamp of Scroll Frame. We have a Needlework System 4 here at the Shop that is set up with frame clamp. This stand helps ease pressure on your back, and is both light weight and portable. Some people think this is the ultimate needlework holder. Happy Stitching!
Save the Date!
Our 5th Annual Retreat is scheduled for Sunday, September 19, 2010. This is a day you will not want to miss. We have a full house evey year. Cheryl Schaeffer has designed our Retreat piece and we will have is at the Gate soon.

The Crew is back from our Annual TNNA (The National Needlework Association) show and are we ever excited! New canvases, new fibers, and new techniques (the girls learned so much at the technique classes--we can hardly wait to share!)
