Q: How do I purchase a product from your site?
a: We have just posted a new catalog of designs to the site, so check back regularly to see what is new! Canvases can be ordered via email or phone. Just let us know the order number and design information.
Q: How do you choose a pattern?
a: Choose a pattern based on several things: your personal taste; the taste of the recipient; the time frame you have to stitch it; and your own skill level.
Q: This is my first stitching project.
What should I do first?
a: Relax and enjoy yourself. Take a few minutes to review any special instructions. If you feel unsure, practice with some scrap fabric and thread until you get the hang of it.
Q: Do you offer classes?
a: Yes, check our newsletters under what's new or call our store for schedules and more information.
Q: My thread is constantly twisting.
What should I do?
a: As you stitch in and out of the fabric, you are inadvertently twisting the thread by turning your needle. When your thread gets too twisted it can knot or even fray as you stitch. To prevent your thread from twisting, let your threaded needle dangle from your fabric every so often. Then your thread can unwind as you go.
Q: How do I find a product that is not listed on your website?
a: Please just give us a call, or drop us an email, and we will do whatever we can to find the product you are looking for.
Q: What do I do with my needlepoint after I've finished stitching it?
a: Garden Gate Needlepoint offers a needlepoint finishing service. We finish needlepoint and cross-stitch pieces into pillows, ornaments, wall hangings, stand-up figures, purses, kepahs, tallit bags, Christmas stockings, door stops, and much more. We also block needlepoint pieces to make them suitable for framing.
Q: What should I bring with my needlepoint piece when I have it finished?
a: You can bring only the needlepoint piece and we can provide fabric, trim and fill. We do suggest, however, that you consider shopping for fabric backing yourself - you get exactly what you want and you'll save yourself some money.
Q: How do I find out if you carry a particular product that is not on this site?
a: You may call or email us directly and we will respond as quickly as we can, usually within 48 hours. We carry hundreds of yarns, patterns, and accessories from most of the major manufacturers. Just ask and we'll tell you if we have it.
Q: Is shipping free?
a: Yes, free shipping with purchase of $125.00 or more (excluding all book orders) within the continental U.S. only.
